Se estudió la influencia que ejerce la dieta sobre el desarrollo larvario del pectínido Argopecten nucleus, probando seis dietas microalgales compuestas por dietas monoalgales y mezcla de las especies Isochrysis galbana, Chaetoceros calcitrans y Tetraselmis suecica en relación 1:1, manejando una concentración por mL equivalente al peso de 40000 células de I. galbana, midiendo la respuesta a través de las variables supervivencia, crecimiento, aparición de la mancha ocular y estado de condición (larvas llenas, semillenas y vacías). The different growth stages of three marine unicellular algae used in aquaculture, Isochrysis galbana, Chaetoceros calcitrans forma pumilum and tetraselmis suecica have been studied for 50 days under controlled culture conditions using a particle meter. At the same time, the size spectrum of the cells has been determined using a C 1000 scanner. The exponential growth stage is 11 days in the first two species, and 13 in the last one. Chaetoceros calcitrans forma pumilum is the smallest with an average size of 3.5 µm. Its cellular volume is constant. The average size of Isochrysis galbana is 4.5 µm. As microalgas são utilizadas como fonte de alimento em aqüicultura. Neste trabalho cultivaram-se D. salina, T. chuii e I. galbana. O objetivo do trabalho consistiu em determinar o efeito do meio Erd Schreiber sobre o seu crescimento. Iniciou-se o cultivo com a mistura de 200 mg de Na2HPO4,7H2O, 100 mg de NaNO3 e 50 mL de extrato de solo. No monitoramento, manteve-se a temperatura entre 24 - 28oC, a salinidade a 34 ppt, à iluminação constante, a densidade celular com uma câmara de Neubauer e um microscópio binocular modelo ZEISS. The effects of seven herbicides, four insecticides and one molluscicide were tested at concentrations of up to 10 mg/l on larvae of oysters, Crassostrea gigas (9 days exposure), and on laboratory cultures of the algae Isochrysis galbana and Chaeloceros calcilrans (21 days exposure). Ali of the pesticides tested had significant toxic effects on at least one of the test organisms. The strongest effects were those of lindane and isoproturon on survival and growth of C.gigas larvae, and of isoproturon and carbetamide on growth of Isochrysis and Chaeloceros cultures. The log-probit model for the relationship between dosage and effect, and Haber's rule for the relationship between duration of exposure and effect, hardly ever applied to our data.
